One of the biggest games in the Football League this weekend sees Huddersfield Town visit Leeds United in what will be a fiery West Yorkshire derby. With both sides languishing near the bottom of the table, three points against their local rivals could be the catalyst to kickstart the season for either of these sides.
Leeds United go into the game as slight favourites, having not lost since their League Cup exit at Bradford three weeks ago. Huddersfield, on the other hand, have collected just 5 points from their opening 7 games, and have the abysmal form of Fulham and Blackpool to spare them from propping up the Championship table.
The last meeting between these two sides ended 5-1, back in February, and Town will be hoping to avoid a repeat of that. As for the team news, Sam Byram may return for Leeds after suspension, whilst James Vaughan’s calf injury paves the way for Jon Stead to partner Nahki Wells upfront for the Terriers.
In League One, Bradford City make the long trip down to Colchester, but will be without key striker James Hanson, who has a thigh injury and will miss 3-4 weeks. Aaron McLean, who scored in midweek during the Bantams’ impressive 2-1 win away at MK Dons, will partner Billy Clarke upfront, in place of Hanson. Bradford will be without Andrew Davies and Matthew Dolan through injury, whilst Alan Sheehan is suspended, with Christopher Routis his replacement.
