10705166_961670553846874_658561087_nSouthend, who hadn’t won in four previous league games, overcame Andy Awford’s men at Roots Hall this afternoon. The two teams went in level at the break but it was a good half, both sides sharing the chances. The two goals were scored in the second half, the first coming from Barry Corr being in the right place at the right time and heading in from two yards after 56 minutes played. This was before Spurs loanee and second half substitute Shaquille Coulthirst went round the Pompey defence and slotted home to ensure all three important points for the home side.

Southend United

Williams- An excellent debut performance by the Crystal Palace youngster, looked extremely confident throughout the 90 minutes and did well going forward. 8.5
Prosser- Looked solid in the Southend back line, made good tackles when necessary but his balls dispatched could have been better. 7.5

Weston- Played at his best today, seemed to have a lot of energy throughout the match and looked a constant threat along the wing for Pompey. Set up a few chances and had a few insights on goal for himself. 8.0
