The72 Football League Weekend Awards: Week Five

GAME OF THE WEEKEND: Carlisle United 4-4 AFC Wimbledon

If you like goals, watch the highlights of this game because this was a bit of a goal-fest. Wimbledon got themselves ahead twice through Sean Rigg and Matt Tubbs but they were pegged back twice by Kyle Dempsey before half-time. The home side then came out like a house on fire, with Josh Gilles putting them ahead before Brad Potts made it 4-2.

With 10 minutes to go, Gary Dicker was given an early bath after a handball in the box which led to Tubb’s second and it stayed that way until stoppage time when Adebayo Azeez nodded in at close-range for a last minute equaliser. A dramatic afternoon that looked like a bog-standard affair before kick-off, Carlisle will be pleased with the performance after Graham Kavanagh’s sacking on Monday whilst the Dons will be delighted to knick a draw from the jaws of defeat.
