Millwall have signed former Blackpool midfielder Angel Martinez on a one year contract, with an option for a further twelve months.
Ian Holloway has been reunited with the 28-year-old after talks were held at the Millwall training ground earlier today. The Lions were able to secure the Spanish midfielders signature after deadline day, as the player was a free agent.
Angel made 62 appearances for Blackpool before opting to leave the Seasiders when his contract ran out in the summer. Since then he has been training his former club, Girona, in Spain whilst weighing up his options for his next move.
Talking about his move to The Den, Angel said “I have stayed in touch with Ian Holloway since he left Blackpool, and for me he is a special manager. We had a great season
there (Blackpool) when we reached the Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley, and I hope we can have success here too.”
The signing of the Spanish central midfielder will give Lions boss Ian Holloway a wide range of players to choose from in the middle of the park. Martinez will also add depth to the Millwall squad.
