Matt Smith (Leeds – Fulham) £500,000
Fulham signed striker Matt Smith from Championship rivals Leeds for a fee reported to be £500,000. The 25 year-old penned a three deal at Craven Cottage with a option to extend it by another 12 months. Smith scored 14 goals in 48 games for Leeds and will be reunited with another ex-Leeds striker, Ross McCormack, who signed for Fulham for £11 million earlier in the summer.
Felix Magath’s has a very youthful squad with very little Championship experience and adding another proven Championship goal scorer could help the Londoners, who currently languish in 23rd, climb the table. The Cottagers have struggled to score goals so far this season, only scoring three in five league games, only Rotherham have scored less in the Championship, and Magath will be hoping Smith can improve this record.
