Blades Sack Weir

Sheffield United have sacked manager Daivd Weir after just 13 games in charge.

Blades fans will tell you this has been coming for a while, and the loss to Hartlepool on Tuesday night in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy appeared to be the straw that broke the camels back .

United are without a win in the league since the opening day of the season.

Weir, who took the reigns after Danny Wilson was sacked earlier this year, pleaded for more time for his style to set in, but how long can a club give when you just aren’t scoring goals?

The Blades are now looking for their ninth manager in six years. Early names being linked with the job are Nigel Clough (8/11 on Skybet), Stuart McCall (12/1) and Neil Warnock (18/1), in what would be a surprise return.  Early money has also been seen placed on Paolo Di Canio (20/1) for the Bramall Lane hot seat.
