Blades boss Nigel Clough has revealed that Jason Pearce of Leeds is the latest club target.
With Harry Maguire seeing the Sheffield United exit with a move to Hull City, manager Nigel Clough is keen to bolster his defensive options and is reportedly looking to lure Leeds captain Jason Pearce to the club.
Clough acknowledges the move will be a tough one to land as the Elland Road defender will be moving down a tier of English football but the club remain keen to bring in the 26 year-old.
Leeds finalised their 12th summer signing on Monday when they secured the deal for Danish international Casper Sloth, but it remains to be seen whether the Yorkshire club are willing to let Pearce leave before the end of the month.
Clough spoke to the Yorkshire Evening Post, saying: “We have looked at Pearce certainly, yes.
“But I think he will be a
bit beyond us with his contract at Leeds. Being a Championship player and what they’d want for him might be a bit beyond us. But yes, we’d like Jason Pearce.
“It is going be difficult to tempt a club to let somebody go who is currently in the first team. But we are trying to do that, if necessary.”
