Preston North End have announced that top goal scorer Joe Garner has penned a new two-year contract at Deepdale, as released on PNE’s Website.

The new deal in question will keep the 26-year-old striker at PNE until the summer of 2016 putting the nail in the coffin of any speculation of Garner moving away from the Lancashire club.

Earlier on in the transfer window Championship clubs were rumoured to be keeping tabs on his current situation with teams like Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool Fc & Wolves topping the list of suitors

Discussions with Garner’s agent over a new deal started at the back end of last season after Garner hit blistering form scoring 24 goals in all competitions which lead PNE to the playoffs.

It is believed during the latest round of talks between both parties common ground was struck and the deal was finalised quickly after that.

The lifelong North End supporter has continued his razor-sharp form in the new campaign scoring three goals in two starts.

Garner signed for PNE back in January 2013 on a free transfer from Championship club Watford, After trying to establishing himself as a regular starter he has since gone on to prove himself to be one of the finest finishers in League One.

“Hopefully something will get done. I don’t want to go anywhere – it took me long enough to get here. I’m happy here and happy at home.”

With the signature of fan favourite Garner secured Preston North End fans can breathe easier & now look forward to another promotion push.
