Derby County have asked to take 25-year-old Stoke City defender Ryan Shotton on loan.
Shotton, a versatile defender-midfielder, is gaining interest from a number of Championship clubs including Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth. However reports coming from Stoke are suggesting they would prefer a permanent deal for the defender who is not seen in manager Mark Hughes’ long term plans. He enjoyed a loan spell last season at Wigan Athletic.
Derby are also thought to be close to signing highly-rated 19-year-old midfielder Tom Koblenz from Hoffenheim.
After helping Hoffenheim U19s win the Bundesliga U19 title last season, he’s been on trial with the Rams and featured in their recent U21s victory against Middlesbrough. He’s attracted interest from a number of English clubs however after impressing the Derby coaching staff during his stint at the club, they seem keen to push through a deal.
