These two clubs have come along way since their last meeting in April 2005. That day belonged to Watford who claimed a 1-0 win at Millmoor thanks to a goal from Heidar Helguson which gave a certain Adrian Boothroyd his first win as the Hornets’ manager. Watford went on to finish 18th avoiding the drop by two points. The hosts on the other hand came rock bottom with an abysmal sum of 29 points. Watford have since gone on to spend a season with the giants of English football in the Premier League and visited Wembley where they were narrowly edged out in the Championship play-off final. The Millers have plummeted all the way down to the bottom division and bounced back again meaning that these two clubs will meet level on points and on a level playing field. Watford are now seen as a strong contender for a return to the Premier League boasting Troy Deeney and Matej Vydrra in attack. The club also have strong ties in Italy especially with Udinese which has allowed them to bring in the likes of Joel Ekstrand, Cristian Battocchio and Fernando Forestieri.

Last weekend the Hornets were comfortably beaten 3-0 at Carrow Road by Norwich City thanks to goals from Bradley Johnson, Alexander Tettey and Lewis Grabban. The Hornets though will point to an early sending off for Joel Ekstrand, just two minutes in as the defining moment of the game. The Millers claimed their first Championship win in just under nine years with a late goal from Ryan Hall gave the hosts victory despite sustained periods of domination from the visitors.
