After being linked with a move to Championship club Cardiff City in the past few days, Manchester United defender Michael Keane is rumoured to have stated that he would prefer to go back on loan to fellow Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
Keane, who spent the last few months of the 2013-14 season on loan at Blackburn making 13 appearances and scoring 3 times, is in demand after proving a hit with the Blackburn faithful as he put in a string of strong performances at right back during his short time at the club. A loan move would again benefit Keane, as he tries to make an impression on new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.
The 21 year old made an appearance in every one of United’s pre-season games, apart from the match against Liverpool, and when used was played in the right centre back role of van Gaal’s 3-5-2.
Both Cardiff and Blackburn are short on defenders, and the addition of a player of Keane’s quality who has proven that he is comfortable at Championship level, would give both Cardiff’s and Blackburn’s back four a far more sturdy look about them.
Cardiff are also eyeing up Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori, who has not made a single appearance for the Premier League side since his move from Sporting Lisbon last season, if a deal for Keane can not be reached.
