5 games that could see an upset in the League Cup tonight

York v Doncaster

yorkThese two Yorkshire sides are separated by just 40 miles, meaning the atmosphere is likely to be fierce at Bootham Crescent on Tuesday. The two sides met at the same stage in the competition two years ago, and it took penalties for Donny to progress. York are made of even sterner stuff these days and under Nigel Worthington they possess the ability to edge this one. Midfielder Michael Coulson scored a stunner that day and will be looking to net again this time out.

Rovers may have won convincingly at Yeovil on Saturday with some brilliant goals but the trip to their near neighbours will not be as straight forward. Both Ryan Jarvis and Anthony Straker up front will be looking to cause the away side problems; Straker’s pace especially will be a huge asset for the Minstermen. Doncaster will assess knocks picked up by Harry Forrester and Nathan Tyson, whilst Reece Wabara and Rob Jones may also sit out. York will be hoping to capitalise on the visitors’ weakened side.

It only took a last minute goal from James Rowe to stop York taking all three points at Tranmere on the opening day, and they will be looking for their first win of the season here. Revenge for the defeat two years ago will also be on the minds of York fans, as they look to progress to the second round.

York – 9/5            Draw – 11/5     Doncaster – 6/4
