5 games that could see an upset in the League Cup tonight

Luton v Swindon

lutonBoth these sides started their season off with a victory on the opening day, but this one could likely go down to the wire. Swindon played some impressive football in their 3-1 win against Scunthorpe but a trip to Kenilworth Road on a Tuesday night is as intimidating as any. With this being Luton’s first League Cup tie since 2008 and the fans jubilant after beating Carlisle on Saturday home advantage will definitely play into the Hatters’ hands.

The bookies are making Luton one of the favourites to go up from League 2 this year, and beating Swindon would really show they mean business for the season ahead. Robins’ manager Mark Cooper has got them playing some good football but the home side are likely to get in their faces from the start and break up play. Ex-Swindon man Paul Benson will lead the Luton line and there will be nothing he will enjoy more than getting one over on his old employers.

Luton are no strangers to a cup run, after reaching the fifth round of the FA Cup two seasons ago. That run, while they were still in the Conference, saw victories over both Norwich and Wolves, showing they have the class to overcome higher opposition. John Still will not have much to do to encourage his team for this one, Swindon better watch out.

Luton – 17/10    Draw – 21/10     Swindon – 17/10
