Premier League side dismiss interest in Preston North End man

Earlier today, the72 reported that Premier League side Southampton were interested in appointing Preston North End’s Joe Savage as their sporting director.

However, it has since emerged that the North End man is actually not on the radar of the South coast club.

The Daily Echo have reported that Preston North End fans have no need to worry about losing Savage, who has helped guide the Lilywhites to second place in the Sky Bet Championship.

Joe Savage is currently the head of recruitment at Deepdale, and it is hard to argue with the work that he has done so far.

Not many people fancied Preston North End to challenge in the Sky Bet Championship this season, yet three months in and the club are currently in the automatic promotion places.

Joe Savage has worked closely with Preston North End manager Alex Neil for a number of years, with Savage following the Scottish manager from Hamilton to Norwich City, and from the Canaries to Preston North End.

He was chief scout at Carrow Road for two years having been director of recruitment and analysis at Hamilton.
Savage being linked with a move away from the club comes less than a week after manager Alex Neil was linked with a move to become the latest manager of fellow Sky Bet Championship side Stoke City.
Preston North End filed a complaint against stoke for an illegal approach for Neil, but have since dropped the complaint after Stoke City dismissed their interest in the PNE man.
