Hull City will need to pay £5 million to sign Everton winger

Hull City will have to fork out £5 million to sign Everton loanee Josh Bowler on a permanent basis.

The youngster is currently on loan at the KCOM Stadium but the Tigers have a buy-out clause at the end of the season, according to a report by Hull Live.

Bowler, who is 20 years-old, scored his first goal for Grant McCann’s side at the weekend in their 3-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

He has made 12 appearances in all competitions so far this season, the majority of which have come off the bench. However, he has started the past two games.

Bowler joined the Yorkshire side on a season-long loan deal in July from Everton and penned a new one-year contract at Goodison Park before he left.

He has never made a senior appearance for the Toffees and they let him leave for Hull to gain some first team experience in the Championship.

Bowler started his career with spells as a youngster in the academies at Fulham and Aldershot Town before joining QPR in 2013. He made his first and only first team experience for the Hoops in a league game versus Norwich City at Carrow Road in May 2017.

Everton then signed him for a fee of around £1.5 million two months later on a three-year deal. He has since become a key player for the Merseyside clubs’ Under-23’s side.

Hull buy-out clause of £5 million is too steep for a second tier side meaning his future at the KCOM Stadium could depend on whether they can gain promotion this term.
