Portsmouth and Burton Albion tracking Cheltenham Town midfielder

Portsmouth and Burton Albion are thought to be monitoring Cheltenham Town midfielder Ryan Broom according to Gloucestershire Live.

Peterborough United are also thought to be interested in Broom with boss Darren Ferguson at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium on Tuesday night to watch the attacking midfielder put in another impressive performance with a goal and assist in the game.

Burton were interested in signing Broom last season and they are one of a whole host of League One clubs weighing up a January move for the 23-year-old, who signed a new two-year deal with the Robins in the summer.

Broom has been at Cheltenham since 2018 when he joined from Bristol Rovers and is wholly versatile having played at wing-back, attacking midfield and has excelled most in the number ten role.

The midfielder has already bagged six goals this season which is better than his goal tally for the entirety of the last campaign.

Broom has made 63 appearances for the Robins since his release by Bristol City. The Newport-born player also played 13 times for Eastleigh in the 2017-18 season during a loan spell at the Silverlake Stadium.

There is no doubt that Broom has developed this season and is an important part of the Cheltenham squad and they will be looking to retain him should they wish to push for promotion this season.

Second placed Cheltenham are away to Grimsby in League Two on Saturday and will be looking to keep pace with the rest of the promotion contenders.
