West Brom in talks with teenager over a new five-year-deal

West Bromwich Albion are now in discussions with teenage sensation Nathan Ferguson over a new five-year contract as reported by The Telegraph.

The full back has been in impressive form so far this campaign having broken into the first team under new manager Slaven Bilic and has began to attract interest from Premier League suitors.

The Baggies are determined to ward off any potential offers from top flight clubs by tying down the 19-year-old to a long-term deal.

West Brom academy product Ferguson, has been with the club since the age of eight and the Championship leaders are believed to have offered him a lucrative new contract and they are hopeful he will sign within the next two weeks.

We reported that Crystal Palace are interested in the teenager but Albion are determined to give Bilic every chance of achieving promotion back to the Premier League this season and will refuse any offers for the England under-20 international in the January transfer window.

Negotiations with Ferguson’s representatives are progressing well and Albion’s hierarchy are optimistic that an agreement can be reached before the end of the month.

West Brom could be confirming two new contracts in the near future with news that striker Hal Robson-Kanu is also close to agreeing a 12-month extension to his deal.

The Welsh international’s contract runs out at the end of this season and the Baggies are keen to retain Robson-Kanu.

Bilic has guided the Baggies to the top of the Championship, winning six of his 11 league games in charge so far and face Middlesbrough this weekend before two home games against Barnsley and Charlton Athletic.
