Oldham sign former Premier League defender

Oldham have completed a deal to bring former Notts Forest and Wolves full back George Elokobi to Boundary Park on a one year deal following a successful trial. Elokobi Could go straight into the starting XI and line up against former club Colchester in Oldham’s opening fixture.

Elokobi, 28, was considered a fan favourite at wolves for his consistent performances and his incomparable strength. he has made 179 appearances in English football, 59 in the Premier League, and has scored 9 times and his signing is something of a coup for Lee Johnson’s side who were keen to add some much needed muscle to their back line  heading in to the new season.

Elokobi is certainly a good League 1 player and, given his vast experience at higher levels, he will certainly add a bit more quality and shore up Oldham’s back line for the new campaign. since losing James Tarkowski to Brentford in January Oldham have been looking to strengthen their defence and now look to done so with one of the strongest players in England.

Elokobi adds to High profile signings of strikers William Gros,22 , who scored twice and assisted 9 times in 50 SPL games and the experienced Jonathan Forte, who has experienced championship and premier league football with Southampton, as well as Joseph Mills from Burnley all of whom join on free transfers.
