Middlesbrough face Cardiff City in South Wales on Saturday afternoon, where both sides will be hoping to build on their four match unbeaten runs.
Both Middlesbrough and Cardiff boast identical records so far this season, winning two, drawing three and losing two across the seven games. They have even scored the same amount of goals, scoring eight, although Boro have a better defensive record, conceding eight to Cardiff’s ten.
In his press conference ahead of the game, Boro boss Jonathan Woodgate spoke highly of Cardiff, but said he knows how his side will come away with all three points at the final whistle.
“I’ve watched all the games they’ve played this season, and we know a lot of their players very well so I know what my team needs to do to win the game” he said.
“We will need to dig in at times but also we have players who can give them plenty to think about.
“I have players in this team who want to defend, and like we showed against Reading, we can do that.”
Woodgate picked out two players in particular who he feels can cause damage to Cardiff at the weekend.
“But we have players like Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher who have the pace to get at them and we’ll be trying to do that.”
