Former Hull City target wanted by quartet of Portuguese clubs

Former Hull City transfer target Jack Hendry is thought to be being chased by no less than four Portuguese clubs according to reports from the Daily Record.

The 24-year-old Celtic centre-back has not featured for The Bhoys since late February and has long been tipped to play his football away from Celtic Park this season.

One of those clubs believed to have been considering a move for Hendry over the summer was Sky Bet Championship side Hull City. The Tigers boss Grant McCann was said to be close to signing the defender on loan in August but the two clubs could not come to a financial agreement for the player.

With Hendry continuing to be out of favour at Celtic, the speculation goes on regarding the former Wigan Athletic defender’s future. It has now been reported that the player could make the move to the Portuguese Primeira Liga with Santa Clara, Tondela and Vitoria Guimaraes all keen to sign him while second tier club Farense also hold an interest.

Hendry started his senior career at Partick Thistle before joining Wigan Athletic in 2015. The centre-back made just three appearances for The Latics and was loaned out to both Shrewsbury Town and MK Dons. The player then returned north of the border where he joined Dundee before being snapped up by current club Celtic six months later.
