Ex-QPR and Millwall boss makes Derby County promotion prediction

Former QPR and Millwall manager and Sky Sports pundit Ian Holloway has said to Derby County’s official website that he believes that the club will be promoted to the Premier League in the near future, going on to praise manager Philip Cocu.

Derby County have got off to a poor start to the Championship season, sitting in 19th place after six games, winning just one league game under new manager Philip Cocu. The Rams had obviously been hoping for a better start to the season and once the international break passes, they will hoping to hit a good run of form to climb up the Championship table.

Ian Holloway – Ex-QPR and Millwall boss, now a Sky Sports pundit – has said that he believes the club will be promoted to the league “one day”, praising the club’s fan base and manager Philip Cocu. Speaking to the club website, he said:

“The building blocks in place that you’ve got here, and it is frustrating that you can’t quite get to the Premier League, but I guarantee you one day you will. Because you have the fan base that will, in the modern day, get you there and allow you to keep building and growing, and I think it’s a fantastic choice.”

“If you look at Phillip Cocu’s record, doesn’t look so good at Fenerbahce, but when he was at a place that he loved and was allowed to bring young players through, he won the Dutch title three times. He’s learnt his trade and that’s what I really love about him. What I like about him is that he’s earned his stripes all the way through.”
