Anton Ferdinand is closing on a deal to join Championship side Reading, according to Sky Sports News.

The 29-year-old defender spent the last year in Turkey with  Antalyaspor but only featured three times.

The former West Ham, Sunderland and QPR player then signed for Thailand side Police United in June. 

Ferdinand is reported to be having at medical at Reading today,  with the hope that he will go straight into the the Royal’s squad for Saturday’s Championship opener against Wigan Athletic.
