£8 million winger bids farewell to Nottingham Forest after UD Almeria move

Speaking on Instagram, young winger Arvin Appiah has sent a goodbye message to the staff, teammates and fans of Nottingham Forest after he made an £8 million deadline day move to Spanish side UD Almeria.

We covered reports here on The72 in the latter stages of the summer transfer window claiming that Spanish side UD Almeria were willing to make an offer of £8 million to sign young star Arvin Appiah from Championship side Nottingham Forest.

And on deadline day, the Spanish outfit conjured up the money to bring Appiah in on a permanent basis, putting pen to paper on a long-term five-year contract with the club. Almeria have said that they beat Premier League side Manchester United to his signature, teasing the Red Devils upon the announcement.

Appiah moved to bid farewell to those at Nottingham Forest, thanking the staff, fans and players for helping him get to where he is today, labelling Forest as a “special club”. Appiah said:

“I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone at @officialnffc for the faith and trust they’ve shown in me since the day I signed for the club. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and guidance from the manager, my teammates, the backroom staff and everyone else associated with the club. Forest is a special club and I’ll always be thankful for my time here. To the fans, thank you so much for all the support, it means a lot. All the best for the future!”
