Cardiff City have completed a move for Tom Adeyemi who joins for an undisclosed fee from Birmingham City.
The 72 reported earlier this week that Adeyemi had handed in a transfer request at Birmingham rejecting an initial bid from an unnamed Championship side but the 22-year-old has got his wish and signs a three-year-deal at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Adeyemi spoke of his delight at signing for the club.
“From the outside looking in, Cardiff City has a very strong squad that will challenge for a quick return to the Premier League this season.
“I took no persuading from the manager to come here. It was a fantastic opportunity for me to work with somebody like him and to play for a club like Cardiff City. I’m very pleased that everything has been completed ahead of the season and now I can focus on fighting for a place in the side and helping us get the season off to a great start.”
Adeyemi will be expected to replace Jordan Mutch who left for Queens Park Rangers earlier this week.
Cardiff City face Blackburn in the Championships’ opener on Friday.
