Benfica full back joins Robins on loan

Bristol City have completed the loan signing of Benfica right-back, Pedro Pereira. There is also an option to buy the right back at the end of the season.

The right-back has spent the last couple of seasons on loan at Genoa and has played 33 games for them in the two seasons he spent on loan there.

The Chief executive officer at Ashton Gate, Mark Ashton, said, “We have been watching Pedro for a long time and we are delighted he has joined us for the season. He is an exceptional young talent that will definitely add to Lee’s defensive options.” He continued to say, “This loan signing is another example Bristol City are able to do business with big teams around Europe and reflects our ambition and stature in the modern game”.

The head coach at Bristol City, Lee Johnson said, “I’m very pleased to be working with a player of Pedro’s talent and potential. He’s young but he has played in top leagues in Portugal and Italy and we are very confident he will be a great asset to the right-back position.”

Pereira will wear the number 32 shirt and links up with his new team-mates ahead of the robins fixture away to Birmingham City on Saturday.

This is a good signing for Bristol City as it is an upgrade to the current right-back position and gives Lee Johnson more options for the backline.

What are your thoughts Bristol City fans? I’m sure there will be at least one more announcement from Bristol City today aswell.
