Middlesbrough are poised to finally complete the signing of Huddersfield Town midfielder Adam Clayton today for a fee believed to be £1.5m.
The Middlesbrough Evening Gazette reports that after weeks of wrangling, the 25-year-old midfielder will undertake a medical at Rockliffe today. The £1.5m initial fee may eventually rise to £2m with various add-ons and bonuses.
Clayton made 92 appearances for West Yorkshire side, Huddersfield Town; scoring 12 goals. He joined Town in July 2012 for a fee of £350,000.
Clayton will be Middlesbrough’s fifth signing of the window so far, though the club are still looking to strengthen further by recruiting a senior right back, a wide-man and another forward, according to the Gazette.
