Sam Byram – Leeds United
It was an incredibly frustrating 2013/14 season for Sam Byram, with numerous injuries limiting him to just 17 appearances, but he’s an ideal candidate to bounce back to form this year with Leeds United. With the young right-back a month away from his 21st birthday, he’ll hope that he can once again show the promise visible to everyone two years ago that led to speculation of a transfer to Manchester City.
Comfortable going forward and getting back, Byram is another example of the athleticism shown by the new generation of full-backs. He likes to cross the ball from deep, which he can do with great skill and it also helps him positionally on opposition counters, a great addition to have at such a young age. Should he continue to improve defensively, he could be a great right-back for years to come and if he can show the form he had before his injury, it won’t be long before the vultures start circling again.
