Blackburn Rovers agree fee for Premier League striker

Blackburn Rovers have agreed a fee with Southampton for striker Sam Gallagher.

The Lancashire side are hopeful of tying up a deal for the forward, according to Sky Sports.

Gallagher, who is 23 years-old, spent the 2016/17 season on loan with Rovers and is set to return there this summer.

He has fallen out-of-favour in the Premier League with the Saints and will be hoping to get his deal to Ewood Park over the line.

Gallagher has been on the books at St Mary’s since joining them in 2012. He started out as a youngster at Plymouth Argyle before switching to the Saints.

He made his debut for Southampton in November 2013 in a League Cup game against Sunderland. He has since played 26 more times for their senior side, scoring twice as well as being a key player for their youth sides.

Gallagher was shipped out on loan to MK Dons in the 2015/16 season but failed to score in 15 appearances as they were relegated to League One. Blackburn then handed him a second chance in the Championship and he bagged 12 goals for them in the  campaign after.
The 6ft 4inc forward then spent the 2017/18 season with Birmingham City and scored seven goals in 33 appearances in all competitions.
He then made six appearances for Southampton last season but is set to leave on a permanent deal soon for more first team opportunities.
