AFC Wimbeldon vs Bristol City – Preseason Friendly

Championship team Bristol City have just played AFC Wimbledon at Kings Meadow in a Pre Season friendly. Here is the team that Bristol City fielded:

This game was the third outing for the Dons after playing Brentford on Friday aswell. The Wimbeldon manager Wally Downes said that “Bristol City finished ahead of Brentford last season so we know it will be a test. Lee has had them close a couple of times but they’ve just fallen short of the play-offs, but they will certainly pushing for it next season and they will be strong.” The Robins proved to be strong tonight and took a one goal lead in the 14th minute through star centre back Adam Webster.

Famara Diedhiou put the Robins in a comfortable position after scoring two goals in quick succession. The Dons however weren’t going to go down without a fight, as Wimbeldon managed to get 2 penalties and covert both making the score 3-2 which it ended.

The Robins would have wanted to beat the league one club by more and would be dissapointed to have conceded to two penalties. That is now four penalties that Bristol City have conceded in two preseason friendlies.

Overall, Wimbeldon gave the game a great go, even though it wasn’t Bristol City’s strongest side they still managed to compete with some of the first team players like Webster and Kalas at the back. Bristol City are today travelling to America for their preseason tour at Tampa Bay in Florida, while in America the Robins will play Derby County.
