Australian A-League side targeting out-of-contract Hull City striker

Western Sydney Wanderers are interested in out-of-contract Hull City striker Fraizer Campbell.

The 31-year-old’s contract at the KCOM Stadium has expired meaning he can join the Australian side on a free transfer, according to a report by The World Game.

Campbell re-joined the Tigers two years ago and has since scored 18 goals in 77 appearances for the East Yorkshire side.

The Huddersfield-born forward started his career at Manchester United and rose up through the youth ranks at Old Trafford.

He gained his first taste of first team football on loan at Royal Antwerp before first joining Hull. He scored 15 goals during the 2007/08 season to help the Tigers gain promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history.

Campbell joined Tottenham Hotspur in the campaign after and then left United on a permanent deal in 2009 to join Sunderland. He spent three-and-a-half years at the Stadium of Light in the top flight.

He moved onto Cardiff City in 2014 prior to moving to Crystal Palace two years later. His time at Selhurst Park was affected by injury but Campbell has got his career back on track at Hull.

The next chapter of his career could be in Australia with Western Sydney Wanderers being linked with a surprise swoop for him. They won the A-League in 2013 and are also the now the home to former Nottingham Forest midfielder Radoslav Majewski.

It is a real blow to Hull losing Campbell and the club still has not officially announced his departure yet.
