Portsmouth release new home kit

Portsmouth have released their new 2014/15 home kit earlier this morning.

The unique design is in honour of the 1,400 Pompey Pal’s who died in First World War and every shirt will contain the names of each member who died. The 14th & 15th (Portsmouth) Battalions Hampshire Regiment were, like other Pal’s Battalions, a major part of Kitchener’s ‘New Army’.

Unveiled on the 100th anniversary the kit replicates the look of Portsmouth’s 1914 version in a touching tribute to those lives lost. The club have also changed their crest on their new strip and have revealed that they could permanently be changing their badge to the design.

Portsmouth’s commercial and marketing manager Micah Hall told the club’s website: “We are delighted with the kit and are sure the fans will love it. As a city with a rich military history, it was very important that we honour the anniversary of World War One.
