Doncaster Rovers are in the hunt for a new manager to replace Grant McCann, who has left for Hull City. Here are five potential candidates for the job-
Richie Wellens- The current Swindon Town boss is the early front runner for the vacant position. He played just under 200 games for Donny as a player. His Robins’ side finished 13th in League Two last season. The 39-year-old has also previously managed Oldham Athletic.
Darren Moore- He is looking to get back into the dugout after his harsh sacking by West Bromwich Albion in March. The 45-year-old spent two years as a player for Rovers. Would he drop into League One to get back into the managerial game though? He would certainly be a popular appointment amongst the Keepmoat Stadium faithful.
Michael Appleton- The former Portsmouth, Blackpool, Blackburn Rovers and Oxford United boss is an option for Doncaster. He is eager to return to management after recent coaching spells at Leicester City and West Brom. He was linked with the Hull job before McCann got it.
Simon Grayson- If Donny want to go for experience to replace McCann then Grayson could be their man. He has been promoted from League One on four occasions with Blackpool, Huddersfield Town, Leeds United and Preston North End in the past.
David Flitcroft- He is available and another option for Doncaster. The 45-year-old has previously managed Barnsley, Bury, Swindon Town and Mansfield Town.
