New Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate targeting 20-year-old winger

Middlesbrough have joined the race to sign UCD (University College Dublin) winger Neil Farrugia.

The 20-year-old is a man in-demand this summer and looks to have a big future ahead of him in the game. Boro are keeping tabs on him, as per a report by Teeside Live.

Farrugia, who is 20 years-old, has burst onto the scene in the League of Ireland over the past year or so and has also impressed for Republic of Ireland Under-21’s.

Robbie Keane looks set to join Woodgate’s backroom staff at the Riverside soon which could boost the North-East’s sides’ chances of landing Farrugia as he knows all about him from Ireland.

Farrugia had trail at Premier League champions Manchester City earlier this year and looks set to return to England over the coming months.

Middlesbrough will be looking to go for promotion once again next season under Woodgate after failing to gain promotion in the past two campaigns now.

Their budget will be slashed from what it has been for the past two years as they need to balance the books but they will still be in the hunt for some reinforcements to their squad.

If Farrugia does join them this summer it is more likely that he will link up with Boro’s youth set-up primarily but he will certainly be one for fans to watch out for.
