According to German publisher Sport Bild (via Bulinews), Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are interested in pursuing a deal for Fulham striker Aleksander Mitrovic.
Mitrovic scored 11 Premier League goals last campaign in a struggling Fulham side, with the Cottagers ultimately suffering relegation back down to the Championship after just one season in the top flight.
The Serbian forward is suggested to be one of the highest earners at the club, and could be on his way out this summer, as he hopes to sign for a club playing at the highest possible level.
Bayer Leverkusen finished fourth in the German top flight in the 2018/19 campaign, and in doing so have secured their place in next seasons UEFA Champions League group stages alongside Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Red Bull Leipzig.
The club nicknamed ‘ Die Werkself’ have expressed an interest in the 24-year old and could make a move in a deal worth around €20 million according to the report. Fulham would then presumably use the funds to bolster their team in the hope of bouncing back to the big time at the first time of asking.
Scott Parker’s don’t have too many forwards at their disposal at present, and if Mitrovic was to leave the club, they would have just Rui Fonte and Aboubakar Kamara on their books going into next season, both of which could also depart this summer window.
As well as looking into a possible deal with the Serb, Leverkusen have expressed an interest in Dinamo Zagreb’s Dani Olmo, Hoffenheim’s Nadiem Amiri and Watford’s Dodi Lukebakio.
