4 York City players that should impress in 14/15

First up we take a look at York’s new speedy winger from Mansfield. Meikle endured a difficult campaign last season, his first in the Football League, rarely getting to play in his favoured position as a traditional winger. Mansfield manager Paul Cox instead opted to pursue the usage of wing-backs in a 3-5-2 system, in which the 26 year-old was sometimes deployed. He was also used as a central striker at times last season.

Despite the offer of a new deal at Field Mill, the winger decided it was time for pastures new and has linked up at York to join the Nigel Worthington revolution. He will be hoping that being reinstated to his favoured right-wing position will mean he will be able to rekindle the form he showed in the 2011/12 season, in which he played against York in the play-offs, massively impressing the fans of his new club.

Arguably Miekle has been York’s brightest performer in pre-season so far, with feet as sharp as his blonde hair. York fans will be hoping he can carry this through into the League and hit the ground running.
