6 reasons York City fans should be optimistic this season

1. January onwards last season

tableThe form of York City in 2014 was nothing short of incredible. A sharp rise from 22nd place at the end of December to 7th by the conclusion of the regular season gave York fans an unexpected, yet welcome treat of a play-off position. This feat was even more remarkable considering that the club had only avoided relegation on the final day of the 2012/13 season and last season looked to be heading very much in the same direction.

The arrival of key signings in January and some much longed for consistency in selection led to York gaining an average of over 2 points per game, usually an average that leads to a league title over a whole campaign. Even more impressive was the goals against column, with three vital additions in January leading to only 10 goals being surrendered in 23 games.

Supporters will be hoping a less stressful, more consistent start to the campaign, could help York set the stall out for another promotion push.
