Blackburn Rovers complete permanent signing of promising midfielder

Blackburn Rovers have completed the permanent signing of Northern Irish midfielder Brad Lyons from Coleraine, the club have announced.

Northern Irish midfielder Brad Lyons joined Blackburn Rovers on loan for the first half of the Championship season in August. Now, he has made his loan move permanent after impressing for the club’s Under-23s side.

Lyons has made a good impact for the Under-23s so far this season, scoring three times from midfield in 13 games for Blackburn Rovers’ second string side managed by Damien Johnson.

Upon making his move permanent, Lyons spoke to Coleraine’s official website to thank the club’s staff, players and fans for all they have done for him after making his way through the club’s youth ranks.

“If it wasn’t for the Coleraine team, fans and staff, I wouldn’t be where I am today as they kept driving me on. I will always love the club and I plan to get to as many games as I can when I’m back home.

“There have been so many unforgettable moments during my time with the club. Making my debut, fighting for the league and playing in Europe have been unforgettable. However, winning the Irish Cup tops the lot and will live with me for the rest of my life.”

The midfielder isn’t expected to remain at Ewood Park for the rest of the season. It is believed that Scottish side St Mirren – managed by former Coleraine manager Oran Kearney – are looking at bringing in Lyons on loan for the rest of the 2018/19 season.
