Wolves delay renewing players contracts

Wolverhampton Wanderers have informed players that are looking for new deals that talks will only begin when season has begin, as reported by Sky Sports News.

Among the player told is the likes of Sam Ricketts who has entered the final year of his contract and is wanting to discuss fresh terms with newly promoted Championship club.

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett is will know that this crop of players will be eager to know where they stand as the club look to build on recent success however  Jackett pin pointed that kick starting off their campaign well is the priority for the time being.

“It’s great Sam feels that way because he’s settled in very well at the club both on and off the pitch,” ~Jackett stated to the Express and Star

 

“His challenge, like all of us, is to have a successful August and September. That’s what we’re focusing on at the moment and Sam’s a big part of that.

 

“We’ll see where we are through August and September, definitely.

 

“So there’s been nothing yet. He’s just over halfway through his contract and he’s done very well for us.”

Within the same interview Jackett has also made known that 28-year-old Stephen Ward will still likely depart from the club, even though he has recently featured  in Wolves pre-season fixtures.

When asked about the situation, he said: “He came into this group and showed a good attitude but he’s looking for his next move, we all know that.
