Blackburn Rovers today confirmed their squad numbers for the coming season, and unsurprisingly attackers Ruben Rochina and Leon Best were not given a number.

Best has been linked with a move away from Ewood Park, with Millwall being the latest team reporting interest in the striker. Rochina’s future now looks like to be away from the North West, with a number of Spanish sides interested in taking him on.

Both players were out on loan for parts of last season, Best went to Sheffield Wednesday playing 16 times and scoring 5 goals, whereas Rochina was on loan at Liga BBVA club Rayo Vallecano, where he made 17 appearances scoring 3 times.

Rovers have been looking to offload the services of Best and Rochina for a while now, and although both scored in a pre-season friendly against Telford, manager Gary Bowyer has now clearly stated that both are free to move on.

New Rovers signing Chris Brown has been handed the coveted number 9 shirt whereas loanee Alex Baptiste has been given the number 15. Promising centre back Jack O’Connell has earned a first team squad number for the first time. He will wear number 21 when the new season begins.
