Chesterfield have turned down a bid from Leeds United for Liam Cooper the clubs official twitter has confirmed which is reportedly an ‘undisclosed six figure bid’.
The fee believed to be in the region of £400,000 has seen Leeds move for the 22-year-old centre back. With Chesterfield recently lining up against Leeds in a pre-season friendly, Cooper featured in the game against the Championship club and caught the eye of the West-Yorkshire club.
With Leeds still keen to recruit before the season opener to Millwall, Cooper would be brought in as a defensive reinforcement however Chesterfield seem keen to hold on to one of their star defenders before the season begins.
