Despite the obvious disappointment of losing George Thorne for the majority of next season, the nucleus of last season’s heroic team has remained intact. Bryson, Hughes, Buxton, Forsyth and Hendrick have all signed new long term contracts. This is a huge statement of intent from the Derby board as they seek to go one better than last season’s crushing Play-Off final defeat. The enigmatic Hughes, the powerful and commanding Buxton and the deadly Chris Martin are all vital to any success Derby might achieve next season and in seasons to come. International players Jamie Ward, Richard Keogh and Craig Bryson will also be vital to any success Derby gain in the coming season.
