Ex-Leeds United and Barnsley manager Paul Heckingbottom is wanted by Notts County, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Ex-Leeds United and Barnsley manager Paul Heckingbottom is wanted by Notts County, after Harry Kewell was sacked just ten weeks after he was appointed at League Two side Notts County.
Harry Kewell left Notts County in 22nd place, having won just three of his 14 games in charge in all competitions.
Notts County chairman Alan Hardy said: “We see no reason to continue with something we don’t think can work”.
Alan Nixon tweeted: “NOTTS COUNTY. Spoken to Paul Heckingbottom about becoming their new boss. The net widens.”
As a player, the 40-year-old had a successful career as a defender, with spells at clubs including Norwich City, Bradford City, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley.
Paul Heckingbottom won four of his 16 games in charge of Leeds United, having left Barnsley to replace Thomas Christiansen on 6 February.

After he hung his boots up, he returned to Barnsley as a coach in their development setup, and then he became caretaker manager in February 2015, taking over from Danny Wilson.
Once agains he took caretaker charge in February 2016, following the departure of Lee Johnson, before landing the job permanently.
During his spell in charge at Oakwell, Paul Heckingbottom led Barnsely to success in the Football League Trophy, before guiding Barnsley to promotion to the Championship via the Play-Offs.
He managed to steer Barnsley to a 14th place finish in the division, on their return to the Championship and in total, oversaw over 100 games at Barnsley.
