Doncaster Rovers join Portsmouth in race for in-demand winger

Doncaster Rovers are interested in Cork City winger Kieran Sadlier, according to the Independent.ie.

The League One side are also keen on Cork defender Sean McLoughlin, as reported by The72 earlier today, as they look for potential signings for the January transfer window already.

Sadlier, who is 24 years-old, is a man in-demand at the moment after impressing in the League of Ireland Premier Division. He is a target for the current third tier leaders Portsmouth but they will have to see off interest from Doncaster if they are to land him.

The Irish winger started his career as a youngster at Cambridge United before he was snapped up by West Ham United in 2005. He rose through the youth ranks with the London side but never made a senior appearance for them.

Sadlier left the Hammers in January 2015 to join St Mirren and spent seven months playing for them in the Scottish Premier League before moving back to England to sign for Peterborough United.

However, he played just once for the Posh before he was loaned out to FC Halifax Town. Sadlier then moved onto Sligo Rovers in January 2016 and spent a year-and-a-half there, scoring a combined 18 goals.

Cork City moved to sign him in July 2017 and he hit the ground running immediately. He has scored 30 goals in 66 games altogether making him one of the most prolific players in the Irish league at the moment.

Doncaster and Portsmouth are both being credited with an interest, but Sadlier will be weighing up other options as well with his next career move being a career defining one.
