Is Frankie Bunn out of his depth and should he be sacked?

Oldham Athletic manager Frankie Bunn is under immense pressure following defeat at home to Port Vale, which has left Latics 15th in League Two, but should Frankie Bunn be sacked?

Struggling Port Vale ended their run of three straight League Two defeats with a battling victory at Boundary Park against Oldham Athletic, which has left Latics fans to question Frankie Bunn.

Oldham Athletic fans have been quick to voice their anger about being 15th in League Two, and some calling for Frankie Bunn to be sacked, but are they right?

Frankie Bunn’s negative tactics have seen Latics go 1-0 down in the first half of 5/7 home league games this season and haven’t won a single one. Against Port Vale, Frankie Bunn opted to playing Chris O’Grady upfront on his own, a striker who has scored eight goals in his last 126 appearance.

His tactics seems to be to play for a point and whenever Latics go a goal behind, Bunn never seems to have a Plan B.

Bunn has also failed to get the best out of key man Jose Baxter, a player who has the potential to be the best player in League Two without a shadow of doubt. He also signed Giles Coke on a two-year-deal which was a big risk, as he has played 12 games in three years due injury. And surprisingly Giles Coke hasn’t featured most of the season due to injury.

Whenever his side comes under question about results and performances he claims “They’re not the finished article”, but how much time is he going to get before it’s too late to challenge for promotion?

But if Latics sack Frankie Bunn, is there any manager who could do a better job than what he’s doing?

Frankie Bunn claims the Latics players are determined to put things right as he told the club website:

“The players kept going and they’re fighting, but again the quality wasn’t good enough in the box and we should have got something out of the game again.”

“We’ll be motivated, and I think the players are good enough to bounce back which we’ve shown we can do in the past.”
