Millwall: Potential starting line-up for the 2014-15 season

With the new season fast approaching, fans of clubs all over the Football League have been predicting a line-up for their clubs first league game. So, I’ve decided to put together my own Millwall starting XI, in a 4-2-3-1 formation. The team below is the potential starting eleven, I would like to see for the 2014-15 season. If anyone disagrees, feel free to add a comment!

I think this is closest to the team that Millwall boss Ian Holloway is going to start against Leeds United on the 9th of August. But, with the transfer window still open, the squad is likely to change slightly in the coming weeks. Millwall are still in search of a big target man and Holloway wants a deal done before the 9th of August.

Latest Lions signing, Magaye Gueye, is facing a race against time to get fit for the visit of Leeds, and as a result, he may not feature in the starting eleven. Meaning that young lion, Fred Onyedinma, could feature instead. Another player who may not start for the Lions is Ed Upson, who I have placed in the CAM role. Holloway’s search for a big striker is ongoing, so, the front two are likely to change, meaning his place in the team isn’t secured.

Holloway has implemented his style of play on Millwall. The Lions are now playing attacking football, with two wing backs pushing forward and looking to overlap their wingers. Millwall had also improved their passing as a team towards the end of last season and Holloway will be looking to improve it further in the new campaign. Millwall finished the 2013-14 season in 19th place and just managed to beat the drop on the final day of the season. The team and fans will be wanting a top half finish in the coming campaign.
