Former Man United keeper to League 1?

Roy Carroll has apparently attracted the interest of Notts County boss Shaun Derry.

Derry has been busy recently with new recruits Garry Thompson, Zeli Ismail and Jake Cassidy all joined in the past few weeks. He is keen to establish a new No.1 between the sticks however since the loss of Bartosz Bialkowski.

Roy Carroll has been playing for Greek side Olympaicos and left them and now is a free agent. He played for County between the sticks in a friendly against FC Halifax Town and Derry may sign the 36 year-old.

Derry said to Sky Sports “I will have a sit down with him and have a chat. It would be nice if we can sort something out,” Derry told reporters following the defeat at Halifax.

“He is the type of keeper I am looking for. He’s a man. I heard him talking to the back four and he’s got a great mentality.

“He didn’t have much chance with the goal, but he commanded his box well and that’s what you get with a goalkeeper of his experience.”
