Barnsley wait nervously for news on Moore injury

Sky Bet League One promotion hopefuls Barnsley are waiting nervously on news regarding the injury sustained by star striker Kieffer Moore according to The Yorkshire Post.

The 26-year-old Torquay-born frontman has been in blistering form for The Tykes but lasted just 36 minutes of the superb 4-0 victory at promotion rivals Peterborough United last weekend before limping off with an ankle problem.

Moore is Barnsley’s top scorer with an impressive seven goals in just 11 appearances for the South Yorkshire club so far this season, however, the club are in the dark about the player’s potential absence.

The goal machine is currently being assessed by the Barnsley medical staff and a final diagnosis of the problem is likely to be completed by the weekend.

At this stage, Moore is highly likely to miss the Sky Bet League One fixture against Luton Town at Oakwell on Saturday. Should the injury only be a minor problem, Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel will be hoping to have the player back for the trip to Charlton Athletic next weekend.

Last season saw the former Truro City striker net double figures for the second consecutive campaign. Moore is likely to not only hit double figures for Barnsley this term but also challenge for the golden boot in Sky Bet League One if he stays fit for most of the campaign.
