Former Manchester United assistant snubs Aston Villa job

Former Manchester United assistant manager Rui Faria is not interested in becoming the new boss of Sky Bet Championship club Aston Villa according to the Daily Record.

The Midlands outfit are currently searching for a new manager after parting company with former boss Steve Bruce last week following a poor start to the season.

A number of potential candidates are thought to be being considered for the vacancy by the Villa hierarchy. One of those names believed to be in the frame could be former Chelsea and Manchester United assistant boss Faria, however, it has now been reported that the Portuguese coach has no interest in returning to football at the current time.

Faria is currently enjoying a break from the game in which he is spending time with his family. The 43-year-old has had very little time away from the game since beginning his coaching career at Portuguese club UD Leiria 17 years ago. Faria is said to want to go into first team management in the future but is happy spending time away from the game for now.

Aston Villa are planning to have a new manager in place in time for their next fixture in the Sky Bet Championship. Villa take on Swansea City in a potentially tricky match at Villa Park in 10 days’ time.
