Three players not included in Premier League 25-man squads who could step down to the Championship

Championship clubs are always looking for experienced players who have played in the top flight, and with plenty of notable absentees from many Premier League 25-man squads, there could be many players looking for a move away from their respected clubs.

Here are three players who could step down into the Championship, who have not been included in their side’s current 25-man squad for the current Premier League campaign.

1. Younes Kaboul – Watford

Watford currently have five other centre-backs on their books competing for a first-team place, meaning Younes Kaboul was left out of the squad list.

Kaboul has not played in the second tier of English football before, but at the age of 32 and having been limited to just two appearances last season, he could make the switch to a team in the Championship in the near future.

2. Lazar Markovic – Liverpool

Markovic signed for Liverpool for £20 million in 2014 from Benfica, but he has only played 19 games in his four years on Merseyside. He has been subject to loans away from the club, with moves to Turkey, Belgium and Portugal in the past few years.

He could be given a lifeline if a Championship club came calling, and it could revive his career. However, his wages could be a stumbling block.

3. Andy King – Leicester City

Andy King was once club captain of Leicester City, and played a key part in their shock title win in the 2015-16 season.

He is assured on the ball, and can keep a team ticking over throughout the 90 minutes. He would be a huge addition to any club in the EFL, given his experience and ability.
