Five potential candidates to replace Steve Bruce at Aston Villa

Aston Villa have sacked Steve Bruce after a poor start to the season. Here are five potential candidates to replace him-

Dean Smith, Brentford- The boyhood Aston Villa fan has emerged as the early frontrunner for the job. His Brentford side are one of the most entertaining sides in the Championship and Villa could be keen to bring him in for his attacking style of football. He has previously also managed League One side Walsall.

Thierry Henry- He was linked with Aston Villa last month and the rumours could circulate again now. The Arsenal legend is currently the assistant manager of the Belgium national team but would he be tempted to get into management with Villa now?

John Terry- This would be a surprise choice but he is an outsider for the vacant job. We have seen the likes of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard getting their first jobs in management and Villa could turn to a familiar face. Terry spent last season playing under Steve Bruce and helped Villa get to the Play-Off final.

Sam Allardyce- The former Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers, West Ham United, Sunderland, England, Crystal Palace and Everton boss is available at the moment. He won promotion from the Championship with West Ham in 2012.

Andrea Stramaccioni- The 42-year-old, who has previously managed Inter Milan, Udinese, Panathanaikos and Sparta Pargue, has been linked with Villa over the past few days. The Italian boss has never managed in England before but could be worth a gamble.
